Introduction

BASIC (an acronym for "Beginner's All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code") was originaly developed around 1964 at Dartmouth College.

BASIC is an easy-to-learn language that most anyone can use.

In the early 1980's, BASIC was built-in to the majority of personal computers.

Many people remember writing a few lines of BASIC at some time and it remains popular.

Often you will have questions not directly answered in this reference.

When this occurs, we recommend you write a little experimental program related to your question and see what happens.

Usually this will answer your question and, since you did it yourself you will probably remember it.
